From March 23 to 25, the 2021 China International Coatings Summit, co-sponsored by the China National Coatings Industry Association (CNCIA) and Chuzhou Municipal Government, was held in Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. Sun Lianying, President of CNCIA, Xu Jiwei, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Chuzhou, and other leading officials, as well as representatives of foreign paint associations, well-known enterprises in the Chinese coatings industry and experts and scholars of scientific research institutes attended the summit. Hong Jie, Chairman and President of SKSHU Paint Co., Ltd. was invited to the summit and gave a keynote speech. 3TREES also received the honorary title of "High-Quality Enterprise of China’s Coating Industry in the '13th Five-Year Plan' Period".
During the two-day summit, which was held on the theme of "New Development, New Philosophy, New Pattern", the Chinese and foreign participants shared their insights on the development trend and reform direction of the coatings industry, based on the policies outlined in the government work report, the regulations introduced by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other central government departments and the proposed policy steps in the "14th Five-Year Plan", laying a solid intellectual and theoretical foundation for sustainable development.
In his address at the summit, Hong Jie offered his views on the nine opportunities and eight challenges facing China's coatings industry by analyzing the new opportunities, challenges and development prospect created by the recently concluded NPC & CPPCC sessions to the building materials and coatings industry, and the role of the new development philosophy in driving the high-quality development of the industry.
Hong Jie said that the development of the coatings industry is facing diverse opportunities. As the fastest-growing major economy, China also has the fastest-growing market in the world. The pandemic is reshaping the global coatings market at a faster pace, which will provide bigger space for the rise of China’s national brands. China’s pro-innovation policy and the formation of a dual-circulation paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay creates opportunities for the growth of real economy and homegrown enterprises. In the newly generated market demands, green building, green building materials, energy conservation, environmental protection and other green, low-carbon building materials industry all face big opportunities. At the same time, the implementation of the “two new, one key” program (new infrastructures, new-type urbanization and key projects for national development), renovation of rundown areas, urban renewal, and rural revitalization will create huge market opportunities for building materials. The steady increase in urbanization rate is conducive to the steady and healthy development of the real estate industry. The implementation of proactive fiscal policy and prudent monetary policy provides a relatively relaxed macro environment for businesses. In addition, the digital transformation of enterprises has become a market consensus, and digital industrialization and industry digitization generate big opportunities for digital transformation. That said, with growing opportunities also come growing challenges: the world is in a competition for limited resources, the risk of de-globalization has increased, and the ability of businesses to achieve high-quality development, drive domestic demand, build a complete industrial chain and manage the supply chain is yet to be improved.
Hong Jie said that this year is the first year in the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and China will start a new journey toward building a modern socialist country and march towards the second centenary goal. Standing at a historical juncture, enterprises should focus on the new development stage, implement the new development philosophy, actively participate in building the new development paradigm, promote the high-quality development of the coatings industry and enterprises, and help China grow from a country with a big coatings industry to a country strong in coatings.
3TREES’s 2020 sales revenue is estimated to rank the 13th among the top coatings companies in the world. Currently, 3TREES ranks the 8th among the world’s top 25 listed coatings companies by market capitalization. Going forward, 3TREES will continue to pursue high-quality growth with scientific and technological innovation, contribute to the energy conservation, thermal insulation and environmental protection of green buildings, and foster a new development paradigm of “dual circulation” in the coatings industry.
